New Shoes for Lulu

I have a confession to make. I am horrible at remembering to buy Lulu new clothes and shoes before the ones she has a too small. So my daughter has been wearing too-small shoes for about 2 weeks. I finally decided that her little size 4 moccasins just wouldn’t cut it anymore when I realized that they were leaving deep impressions on her ankles.

While we were shopping for fall clothes, I looked for shoes. Carter’s didn’t have anything I liked, so of course Lulu had to wear the size 4s for a little while longer.

Today, I finally had time to buy her shoes. Off we went to Target. Much to my surprise, the baby and toddler shoes weren’t located with the rest of the baby stuff. I guess I don’t know why I expected them to be. Adult shoes aren’t in the same area as the adult clothes…

Anyway, I had almost given up on finding shoes when I asked a sales person if they had anything that would fit my little one. She pointed me in the right direction, and we finally found the toddler shoes. They actually had 2 full rows of little girls’ shoes. That said, many of them cost more than my shoes.

I found myself loving the winter boots, but $25 just seems like too much to spend on shoes that she can’t really wear yet and will be too small very quickly. We wandered in to the boys’ section where I found a pair of $10 sneakers. Perfect! If only they were made for little girls instead.

I decided to give the girls’ rows one more pass, and much to my surprise I found the same shoes with pink stripes instead of blue and black! Check ‘em out.

So now Lulu has shoes that fit. Well, kind of. They’re a little big because the size 5s didn’t leave any room for socks. With fall and winter around the corner, I wanted to make sure that we could keep my little girl’s feet warm enough, so she’ll have to make do with slightly too-big shoes for a little while. Oh well, I guess that’s better than too small, right?
